Lagos resident are still counting their loses following Mondays rainfall which wrecked havoc in many communities destroying farmlands and pulling down electric poles and rooftops of buildings. Affected residents described the incident as tragic.

The 45-minute rain storm which began in the early hours of Monday pulled down rooftops across many communities in Lagos rendering the occupants homeless and destroying property worth millions of Naira. Farmlands and vegetation were also badly affected.

In Ilosiwaju community, over four high tension, electric poles said to have been commissioned barely two months ago were brought down by the storm.

The electric poles suspected to have been moulded with inferior materials fell on rooftops of buildings including a nursery and primary school. The residents are still in shock.

Waste bottles and other kinds of trash washed on to the roads still litter the environment even as residents decry the poor state of the roads and poor drainage channels which they say aggravated the flooding.
