Zamfara Banditry: Police Ask Bandits To Surrender Weapons by : 12:08 pm On June 29, 2019

The Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, Usman Nagogo has called on Fulani bandits to surrender their weapons and embrace peace.

The commissioner made the call during a reconciliatory meeting with leaders of Miyetti Allah at JB Secretariat, Gusau, and the Zamfara state capital as part of efforts to end the prevailing security situation in the state.

Nagogo called on the bandits to surrender their weapons and embrace peaceful reconciliations of any issues.

He wants the Miyetti Allah leaders to call their people to order, to stop all forms of banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling, and criminalities.

The CP said the volunteer groups have since surrendered more nine thousand (9, 000) weapons in their possession in order to embrace peace.

Some of the Miyetti Allah leaders who spoke blamed the current security situation on all forms of intimidation and harassment of Fulani by Farmers who have continued to encroach on their grazing lands and routes.

They, however, commended the efforts of security agencies for the gradual return of peace in most parts of the state.

The leaders of the Fulani groups want the state government and the security agencies to be sincere and honest in their efforts to amicably resolve the security situation.

The commissioner of police met with Civilian Joint Taskforce, JTF, and vigilante groups last week, all in a bid to peacefully resolve the present banditry in Zamfara State.
